CCBST Has No Student Dental Plan. Here Is What You Can Use
CCBST is a private career college. It does not carry a student union health and dental plan the way a public college does, so there is nothing attached to your tuition to claim against. That surprises a lot of students who go looking for one.
The useful question is what you can use instead, and for most CCBST students the answer is one of three things.
That does not mean you have to pay full price, and it does not mean you should put off a toothache until it becomes a root canal. There are three routes, and one of them probably applies to you.
The CDCP
Household income under $90,000 and no access to a private dental plan? You may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We are a registered provider.
A family or partner plan
Still on a parent's or partner's coverage? Bring the details and we will check and bill it directly.
NIHB
First Nations and Inuit students are covered under NIHB. We accept it and submit the claim for you.

What You Will Pay Without a Plan
If you are paying yourself, you deserve to know the number before you sit down. These are our usual ranges. We follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide and confirm the exact figure before starting.
| Service | Typically covered | Covered by CDCP? |
| Exam and X-rays | From $150 | Yes |
| Cleaning and scaling | From $150 | Yes |
| Root canal | $170 to $320 | Yes |
| Tooth filling | $180 to $540 | Yes |
| Tooth extractions | $520 to $1,220 | Often, in part |
| Emergency exam | From $150 | Yes |
| Crowns | Quoted at consultation | Limited |
| Braces or Invisalign | Quoted at consultation | No |
| Teeth whitening | $250 to $450 | No |
These are guide ranges only and your own cost depends on the tooth and the treatment needed. We confirm the exact figure and any coverage before starting.
Ask before you book
Call and describe the problem and we can usually give you a range over the phone, so you are not walking into an unknown.
Why we work for students
Evening Class, Weekend Class, We Are Still Open
CCBST runs day, evening and weekend classes, which is the whole point of studying there while you work. The trouble is that every dental office around Sheppard keeps office hours, so if your class finishes at nine you have no chance of seeing anyone.
We are open until midnight Monday to Saturday, and Sunday afternoons. Come after an evening class, after a Saturday session, or after a shift. No appointment, no referral, and no giving up a class to sit in a waiting room.

| Walk In Dental | Typical clinic | |
| Monday to Friday | 9 AM to midnight | 9 AM to 5 PM |
| Saturday | 9 AM to midnight | Closed or half day |
| Sunday | 11 AM to 4 PM | Closed |
| Appointment needed | No | Usually yes |

About to start a new job
Use Your Coverage Before Your Benefits Start
This one catches people out, and CCBST students are exactly who it catches.
If you qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan right now, that is because you have no access to a private dental plan. The moment you start a job that offers dental benefits, that eligibility ends, whether or not you have enrolled and whether or not the coverage has begun. CDCP counts access, not use.
Most employer dental plans also have a waiting period, often around three months from your start date.

Stage 1: While studying
CDCP, if you qualify.
Stage 2: First months in the job
Often nothing at all.
Stage 3: After the waiting period
Employer plan.
So if you have been putting off a cleaning or a filling, the time to do it is before you start, not after. Book it in your final term while your CDCP coverage still holds.
If you have already started and you are in the gap, come in anyway. We will tell you the cost first and we can plan the work rather than doing it all at once.

Dr. Farah Karimi
Meet Your Dentist
Your care is led by Dr. Farah Karimi, who founded Walk In Dental Clinic and built it around access, which is why we are still open at eleven at night. Alongside her, Dr. Niousha Zerafatjou, Dr. Mehdi Shadaloie, Dr. Mahmood Beheshtifar and Dr. Nastaran Niknamfard see patients through the evening, with hygienists Rose and Mitra Arefinejad.
A student should not have to skip a lecture to see a dentist. That is why we stay open.
- Serving Toronto since 1979
- Five dentists on the team
- Farsi and English
- Gentle with anxious patients

You will be understood
Care in Farsi and English
CCBST brings students from all over the world, and a large part of that community speaks Farsi. Our whole team does too, so you can describe what hurts and understand your treatment without translating in your head first.

Dr. Neusha Zarafar Jou is one the best dentist I’ve ever seen, very kind, patient, compassionate, and experienced. I told her that her brain digitize the teeth and do the work one time fast & perfectly! I’m an engineer who really believes in her skills and vision! The clinic is also very collaborative!Posted on Google![]()

It's not often you hear people saying they had a great experience at the dentist? I did and I would recommend this clinic %100. Every member of this dental team is polite, enthusiastic and perfection oriented. I love how every procedure is explained both before and during your dental work. I recommend the WALK-IN CLINIC to everyone. I am so grateful for the Clinic's care & kindness to me. Respect. Audrey Page

CCBST Student Dental Questions
Does CCBST give me dental coverage?
No. CCBST is a private career college, so there is no student union health and dental plan attached to your tuition. If you have no other insurance you may qualify for the CDCP, and we are a registered provider.
I am about to start a job. Should I use my CDCP coverage first?
Yes, and this is worth knowing. CDCP eligibility ends as soon as you have access to an employer dental plan, even before that plan starts paying. Most employer plans have a waiting period of around three months. Booking before you start avoids the gap entirely.
What if I am already in that gap?
Come in anyway. We will tell you the cost before we start, and if the full treatment is more than you can manage right now we will do the urgent part and plan the rest.
How much is a checkup and cleaning without insurance?
An exam with X-rays and a cleaning starts at around $150 each. We follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide and confirm the exact cost before we begin.
How do I get to you from campus?
Straight north on Yonge. About ten minutes by car, or twenty on transit from Sheppard.
I have evening and weekend classes. When can I come?
Almost any time we are open. Monday to Saturday until midnight, and Sunday 11 AM to 4 PM. Most of our patients arrive after six.
I am an international student. Can I be treated here?
Yes. You do not need OHIP to see a dentist, because dental care is not covered by OHIP for adults anyway. If you have private study insurance, bring it and we will check the dental portion.
Do you offer payment options?
Talk to us. We would rather treat the urgent part now and plan the rest than have you leave in pain.
Do you have a Farsi speaking dentist?
Yes. Our whole team speaks Farsi as well as English.
Can I really walk in without an appointment?
Yes. Monday to Saturday until midnight, Sunday 11 AM to 4 PM. Call ahead on (647) 931-6696 if you want us to hold a time.
Book It Before Your Benefits Change
If you qualify for CDCP now, use it now. Walk in any day until midnight, or call and we will hold a time. No student plan, no appointment, and no referral needed.
