Academy of Learning Has No Student Dental Plan. Here Is What You Can Use
AOL is a private career college. There is no student union attached to it and no health and dental plan bundled into your tuition, so there is nothing to claim against the way there would be at a public college.
That is worth knowing early rather than discovering it when something hurts. Most AOL students have one of three options instead.
The CDCP
Household income under $90,000 and no access to a private dental plan? You may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan. We are a registered provider.
A family or partner plan
Still on a parent's or partner's coverage? Bring the details and we will check and bill it directly.
NIHB
First Nations and Inuit students are covered under NIHB. We accept it and submit the claim for you.

What it costs
What You Will Pay Without a Plan
If you are paying yourself, you deserve to know the number before you sit down. These are our usual ranges. We follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide and confirm the exact figure before starting.
| Service | Typically covered | Covered by CDCP? |
| Exam and X-rays | From $150 | Yes |
| Cleaning and scaling | From $150 | Yes |
| Root canal | $170 to $320 | Yes |
| Tooth filling | $180 to $540 | Yes |
| Tooth extractions | $520 to $1,220 | Often, in part |
| Emergency exam | From $150 | Yes |
| Crowns | Quoted at consultation | Limited |
| Braces or Invisalign | Quoted at consultation | No |
| Teeth whitening | $250 to $450 | No |
These are guide ranges only and your own cost depends on the tooth and the treatment needed. We confirm the exact figure and any coverage before starting.
Why we work for students
You Set Your Own Schedule. So Do We
AOL is built around the Integrated Learning System, so you work at your own pace and fit study around whatever else your week holds. Night owl or early bird, the college says, and that is the point of going there.
The problem is that dental offices do not work that way. Almost every clinic around North York Centre keeps nine to five hours, which is no use if your day is already spoken for.
We are open until midnight Monday to Saturday, and Sunday afternoons. Come when your day actually allows. No appointment, no referral, and no rearranging your week around a fifteen minute filling.

| Walk In Dental | Typical clinic | |
| Monday to Friday | 9 AM to midnight | 9 AM to 5 PM |
| Saturday | 9 AM to midnight | Closed or half day |
| Sunday | 11 AM to 4 PM | Closed |
| Appointment needed | No | Usually yes |

Before you need it
CDCP Is Not Instant. Apply Before Something Hurts
Here is the part most people get wrong about the Canadian Dental Care Plan, and it is worth ten minutes of your time today rather than a large bill later.
You cannot walk into a clinic tonight and use CDCP tonight. It is not a card you carry. You apply through Service Canada, your eligibility is confirmed, Sun Life sends your details, and your coverage begins on a start date set after approval. None of that happens in an evening.
That timing matters more at AOL than almost anywhere else, because your programme is short. Diplomas here run somewhere between 21 and 51 weeks.

Apply in your first week
- Covered for most of your programme
- A cleaning and any fillings sorted early
- No decisions made in pain
Wait until a tooth hurts
- Paying out of pocket while it processes
- Treating an emergency instead of preventing one
- Deciding cost and treatment at the same time
So if you think you might qualify, apply now, while nothing hurts. It costs nothing to find out and it takes one sitting.
And if you are already in pain and have not applied, come in anyway. We will look at it tonight, tell you the cost before we start, and treat the urgent part first if that is easier on your budget.

Since 1979
Dr. Farah Karimi founded the clinic and the team has treated over 30,000 emergencies.
Dr. Farah Karimi
Meet Your Dentist
Your care is led by Dr. Farah Karimi, who founded Walk In Dental Clinic and built it around access, which is why we are still open at eleven at night. Alongside her, Dr. Niousha Zerafatjou, Dr. Mehdi Shadaloie, Dr. Mahmood Beheshtifar and Dr. Nastaran Niknamfard see patients through the evening, with hygienists Rose and Mitra Arefinejad.
A student should not have to skip a lecture to see a dentist. That is why we stay open.
- Serving Toronto since 1979
- Five dentists on the team
- Farsi and English
- Gentle with anxious patients

You will be understood
Care in Farsi and English
Academy of Learning brings students from all over the world, and a large part of that community speaks Farsi. Our whole team does too, so you can describe what hurts and understand your treatment without translating in your head first.

Dr. Neusha Zarafar Jou is one the best dentist I’ve ever seen, very kind, patient, compassionate, and experienced. I told her that her brain digitize the teeth and do the work one time fast & perfectly! I’m an engineer who really believes in her skills and vision! The clinic is also very collaborative!Posted on Google![]()

It's not often you hear people saying they had a great experience at the dentist? I did and I would recommend this clinic %100. Every member of this dental team is polite, enthusiastic and perfection oriented. I love how every procedure is explained both before and during your dental work. I recommend the WALK-IN CLINIC to everyone. I am so grateful for the Clinic's care & kindness to me. Respect. Audrey Page

Academy of Learning Student Dental Questions
Does Academy of Learning give me dental coverage?
No. AOL is a private career college, so there is no student union health and dental plan attached to your tuition. If you have no other insurance you may qualify for the CDCP, and we are a registered provider.
Can I use CDCP the same day I apply?
No. You apply through Service Canada, your eligibility is confirmed, and your coverage begins on a start date set after approval. That is why it is worth applying before you need it rather than when you do.
My programme is only six months. Is it still worth applying?
Yes, and it is worth doing in your first week. Apply early and you are covered for most of your programme. Leave it and you may finish before your coverage starts.
I am in pain tonight and I have not applied. What now?
Come in anyway. We will look at it, tell you the cost before we start, and treat the urgent part first if that works better for your budget.
How much is a checkup and cleaning without insurance?
An exam with X-rays and a cleaning starts at around $150 each. We follow the Ontario Dental Association fee guide and confirm the exact cost before we begin.
How do I get to you from campus?
Straight up Yonge from North York Centre. About ten minutes by car, or fifteen on the subway to Finch and a short bus.
Can I really walk in without an appointment?
Yes. Call ahead on (647) 931-6696 if you want us to hold a time.
I am an international student. Can I be treated here?
Yes. You do not need OHIP to see a dentist, because dental care is not covered by OHIP for adults anyway. If you have private study insurance, bring it and we will check the dental portion.
Do you have a Farsi speaking dentist?
Yes. Our whole team speaks Farsi as well as English.
I study at my own pace. When can I come?
Whenever suits you. Monday to Saturday until midnight, and Sunday 11 AM to 4 PM. Most of our patients arrive after six.
Apply Now, Not When It Hurts
If you might qualify for CDCP, ten minutes today saves a lot later. And if something already hurts, walk in any day until midnight and we will take a look. No student plan, no appointment, no referral.
